Meaning: The Morning Hours

Place of Revelation: Mecca
Surah Ad-Duha begins with Allah’s reassurance to the Prophet ﷺ during a pause in revelation, swearing by the morning light and night’s stillness. It comforts him, stating Allah has not forsaken him and will grant him better later. The surah affirms Allah’s care: He provided and will continue to guide. It concludes by urging the Prophet to care for orphans and the needy, to speak of Allah’s favor, and to avoid the ungrateful.
Divine wisdom underlies silence and sorrow; resilience and gratitude usher in Allah’s mercy. Compassion for the vulnerable is an expression of spiritual strength.
Reciting Ad-Duha instills hope during difficulty, nurtures gratitude for past blessings, motivates compassion toward those in need, and boosts confidence despite trials.
93:3–5 – “Your Lord has neither forsaken you nor hates you…”
