Surah Al-Hashr recounts the expulsion of the Jewish tribe of Banu Nadir for treachery during the conflict of Medina. Their wealth was seized and distributed among refugees, emphasizing collective responsibility and ethical redistribution. Allah urged believers to reflect on their fate, encouraged humility before divine decree, and instructed how to spend gains lawfully—half for orphans and the needy, a fifth for state functions. It concludes with stirring examples of Allah’s majestic names, inspiring believers to glorify Him and emulate His noble attributes in daily life.
Communities are accountable for betrayal and solidarity. Wealth obtained through divine decree must be spent with justice, compassion, and responsibility. Reflection on Allah’s qualities inspires righteous conduct.
Recitation instills consciousness of social justice, strengthens resolve to support the needy and refugees, promotes ethical wealth distribution, and cultivates love for Allah through meditation on His attributes.
