Surah Al-Hijr reaffirms the divine origin of the Quran and warns those who reject it. It narrates the stories of previous nations destroyed for rejecting prophets, including the people of Lut (AS) and the inhabitants of Al-Hijr (Thamud). The Surah contains profound lessons about Satan's enmity towards humanity and Allah's protection of His revelation. It concludes with comforting the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to continue his mission patiently.
Divine revelation is protected by Allah Himself. Those who arrogantly reject truth face destruction, while believers are promised ultimate victory.
The Prophet (PBUH) recited this Surah for protection against evil. Ibn Mas'ud reported it contains ayat that were particularly effective against black magic. Its recitation is said to strengthen faith in Allah's promises.
15:9 "إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا ٱلذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَـٰفِظُونَ" - 'Indeed, it is We who sent down the Quran and indeed, We will be its guardian.'
15:49-50 "نَبِّئْ عِبَادِى أَنِّى أَنَا ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ وَأَنَّ عَذَابِى هُوَ ٱلْعَذَابُ ٱلْأَلِيمُ" - 'Inform My servants that it is I who am the Forgiving, the Merciful, and that it is My punishment which is the painful punishment.'
15:99 "وَٱعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَكَ ٱلْيَقِينُ" - 'And worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty (death).'
Allah perfectly preserves His message. Arrogance leads to destruction while humble worship leads to salvation. Even in face of rejection, prophets must remain steadfast.
