Meaning: The Prostration
Total Ayahs: 30
Place of Revelation: Mecca
Surah As-Sajdah opens with the Quran's divine origin and humanity's creation from clay, establishing Allah's creative power. It contrasts believers who prostrate in humility with disbelievers who reject resurrection. The Surah contains a mandatory prostration (verse 15) and vividly describes the Day of Judgment, urging reflection on Allah's signs in the universe.
Creation and resurrection are equally easy for Allah. True believers submit humbly to divine wisdom. The hereafter is the ultimate reality.
The Prophet (PBUH) would recite this Surah on Fridays before Fajr. Its prostration verse offers spiritual elevation. Scholars note its power in softening hearts during prayer.
- 'Only those believe in Our signs who, when reminded by them, fall down in prostration...'
- 'No soul knows what joy is kept hidden for them...'
- 'Who is more unjust than one reminded of his Lord\'s signs then turns away?'
Prostration symbolizes ultimate submission. Worldly life is transient compared to eternal rewards. Reflection leads to faith.
