Meaning: The Mutual Loss and Gain
Total Ayahs: 18
Place of Revelation: Medina
Surah At-Taghabun starts with glorification of Allah and addresses the reality that people will be tested through loss and gain on the Day of Mutual Loss and Gain. The first part (verses 1–4) reminds all humanity of life’s trials. Verses 5–10 rebuke those who reject divine guidance and persist in heedlessness. The final section (verses 11–18) speaks to believers—encouraging submission, remembrance of Allah, and conscientious living. It reassures them that Allah will forgive, accept repentance, and reward those who prepare for the Hereafter.
Life’s fluctuations (loss and gain) are intentional divine tests. True success lies in righteous response—not material comfort. Sincere seeking of forgiveness and remembrance stabilizes the soul.
Reading it bolsters patience amid adversity, reminds believers not to be deceived by worldly blessings, amplifies gratitude and consciousness of mutual accountability, supports repentance, and comforts those fearing loss by highlighting divine wisdom.
64:1–2- glorification; 64:15–16 – «وَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَآتُوا الزَّكَاةَ...»، encourage steadfast worship and repentance.
Maintain equanimity in success and hardship, invest in the eternal over the temporal, and ground life in remembrance and repentance.
