Surah At-Takathur sternly warns humanity against becoming obsessed with the accumulation of wealth, possessions, and worldly status. It describes how such competition distracts people from their true purpose until death overtakes them. It emphasizes that on the Day of Judgment, everyone will be questioned about the blessings they enjoyed. The Surah aims to awaken the human conscience and calls for reflection on mortality, priorities, and spiritual accountability.
Material pursuits are distractions from the eternal reality. True success lies in remembrance, not rivalry.
Recitation protects against arrogance, reminds of mortality, and encourages gratitude. It also serves as a spiritual cure for heedlessness and reminds us to evaluate our deeds before we are held accountable.
102:1–2 – 'Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you until you visit the graves...'
Do not let material rivalry distract you from your purpose and the Hereafter.
