Place of Revelation: Mecca
Surah At-Tur begins with oaths by Mount Sinai and other significant signs, affirming the certainty of Resurrection. It vividly describes the torment awaiting disbelievers and the bliss prepared for the righteous. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is defended against accusations of madness, sorcery, and poetry. Disbelievers’ arguments are refuted, and they are urged to heed the message and recognize divine justice. Ends with reassurance to the Prophet to continue his mission with trust in Allah.
The Hereafter is inevitable; warning and promise are both real. Divine justice will distinguish between truth and falsehood. Prophet Muhammad’s mission is genuine and supported by signs.
Recitation strengthens faith in the afterlife, reassures the Prophet’s mission, and deters wrongdoing through vivid reminders of Paradise and Hell. It consoles believers facing accusations.
52:1 "وَالطُّورِ" – ‘By the Mount (Sinai)...’
52:28 "وَمَا يَدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُۥ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ..." – ‘What do you know? Perhaps it will purify him...’
Embrace divine guidance with confidence, remain patient under slander, and remember that moral excellence leads to eternal reward.
