Meaning: The Earthquake
Total Ayahs: 8
Place of Revelation: Medina
Surah Az-Zalzalah depicts the catastrophic quake on Judgment Day, when even the earth will reveal its burdens and every soul will witness its deeds. It underscores that even acts as minor as an atom’s weight, whether good or evil, will be accounted for. It ends with a powerful role reversal: the righteous joyfully rewarded, the wrongdoers in despair—no deed is too small to be forgotten.
Divine justice ensures every deed—no matter how minute—will be unveiled and judged. The Hereafter is certain, and accountability is universal.
Reciting it heightens awareness of personal accountability, sharpens moral sensitivity, instills fear of negligence, offers clarity in purpose, and grounds believers in responsibility.
99:4–6 — “And whenever the earth is stretched forth… And brings forth its burdens, And man says, ‘What is wrong with it?’”
Live with awareness that every choice matters—small actions carry eternal weight.
